Ok so we have all seen them....the "blonde only" shampoos.
I have tried many of them and there are definite winners and losers.
John Freida makes a line called "Sheer Blonde". I personally think that this line of shampoos dries out my hair and made it feel brittle, even with the aid of their matching conditioner. It just didn't remove the brassiness and dullness that my blonde hair gets over time and the dry factor was a definite NO.
My favorites are ArtTEC "White Violet" color shampoo. I have used this off and on since the early Ninetie's (sigh). My blonde Mother even uses it everyday! It smells great and gives an untimate anti-brass effect without drying out the hair.
Also, DEVA Concepts makes an amazing line of shampoo and conditioners for blonde hair that you actually can use everyday. The shampoo comes in two versions one called "No-poo" which does not suds-up and does not strip the hair of essential oils at all. This formulation is great if your hair is dry and damaged. For those that like a little sudsy action or tend to have an oilier scalp, they make another version called "Low-poo" that provides a bit more cleaning action. Both formulas have a purple color to prevent orange/brass tones from developing. The color depositing is not strong ( if you don't leave it on long) so it is safe to use everyday. Following the shampoo they also make a anti-brass conditioner for blondes called "One Condition". The conditioner is emollient and leaves your hair silky without waxiness or buildup. Another good note about the Deva shampoos is that they are sulfite free so they won't strip or change the color of your blonde!
My old tried and true stand-by is Clairol Shimmer Lights for blonde/silver hair. What can I say...it truly works....has a good price and smells nice and clean! It can be a bit drying but I tend to limit my use to 2-3 times a week as my hair has platinum highlights and the porous nature of my hair really sucks in the violet color from the shampoo if I am not careful . ( TIP: if you ever leave on a color-depositing shampoo too long....just throw on some deep conditioner and it will lift the color-depositing shampoo out to a more normal level).
Another line that I ADORE is Frederick Fekkai Technician Color Care Shampoo and Conditioner ( I also use some of the styling products but I'll save that for a later post). I buy this at Sephora or Ricky's here in NYC. If you don't have a Sephora near you you can shop online at www.Sephora.com 24 hours a day 7 days a week! I love the way this product smells and it makes my hair very soft, sleek and super shiny. There also have a Deep Conditioner that works amazingly well too! I have been known to leave in the regular conditioner or deep conditioner from this line overnight to repair my hair after a day at the beach or after highlighting/coloring.
