L'OREAL SUPERIOR PREFERENCE DREAM BLONDE- LOVE AT FIRST BLEACH!

I have found the most amazing blonde haircolor yet!!!! I have joined the bandwagon of L'oreal Superior Preference Dream Blonde! My color is color number 11 " Glistening Magnolia". I have used this color twice and it has worked like a dream- even when I was doing background work on the set of "Gossip Girl" the first time I colored with this product the hairstylist for the show asked if this was my natural hair color!!!! INSANE!!! IF ONLY HE KNEW!!! LOL! I am a natural level 7 and it lifts me to about a level 9, so I do go back in with Wella Blondor cream bleach ( in foils) with a 20 vol. developer to throw in some brighter highlights and break the color up a bit.

The Dream Blonde package contains lots of goodies! There is a "step 1" pre color hair conditioner that you put on your ends or any damaged areas you may have in your hair to protect it during the lightening process. The second step is to mix the color with the developer in a very professional looking applicator bottle ( the nice kind that has the long tip to get into your roots well!). For new growth only you apply and let it develop for about 25 minutes and in the last 5 minutes apply the color to your ends to "freshen up". If it is your first time coloring with this product or a new Dream Blonde color you should apply it all over and leave it in for the full 30 minutes.. The shampoo and conditioner for after treatment use are big, generous tubes and the smell is FABULOUS!. I wish they sold these products in large size separately because they make your hair so shiny and silky! There is also a styling product that they give you - "Continuous Shine Cream" . This stuff really smooths and sleeks the hair and adds extraordinary shine. You only need a little bit or you risk looking greasy, but it tames fly-aways like a dream.

I can't express what a relief it is to finally be able to color my hair and not be afraid of it coming out a crazy color or falling off. I have been entrapped by going to a salon for years and here in NYC the costs of being a double process blonde are astronomical....at a salon I trust in Brooklyn I paid upwards of $300 every 6-8 weeks to color my hair and it made me sick every single time I left because of the money involved. Many times I try and wait until I could fly home to Louisiana and get it colored down there to save money but who has the patience to wait with dark roots looming?

One problem for us long hair gals and this product is that if you have very long and thick hair like I do....unfortunately it will take two boxes of color to completely saturate your hair . Thirty dollars for two boxes of color versus $300 a pop is something I can deal with though.

There is a Dream Blonde color called " Ultra Lightening" color #100. I haven't tried it yet...maybe next time, but again it probably only lifts about 2 levels. Yesterday, when i was buying my color I noticed an Asian girl behind me with a box of Dream Blonde in color 9A "Pure Orchid". Her hair was black and very red/warm undertones. I wanted to tell her that she was about to make a very big mistake and end up with very orange hair, but didn't feel it was my place. Please remember that there are limits to box haircolor and generally no matter how much lightening the box claims it will only lift about 2 levels from the color your hair presently is. If your hair is a very dark brown or black please see a professional for blonding and save yourself ( and your hair) a very big headache!

There is a chance that Asian girl bought professional bleach at Sally's beauty supply that she plans on using before the color. Also, she picked an Ash shade so even if she only applied the color by itsef, it would still lighten her hair up to a medium golden brown, which may be exactly what she's looking for. I know many people with black hair who use blonde hairdye to warm up their color and lighten it only a little, there is no problem with it.

I have used the Ultra Lightening and it is awesome stuff for a boxed bleach kit. If you were to go professional get Chi Ionic Bleach Cream plus twenty volume developer because it is safer for hair and scalp I for one don't want to risk burning myself with it. Anyway with twenty volume just leave it on longer like for an hour. If it is still not the color you desired after that wait a day and repeat. Chi is very good stuff and so is L'Oreal.
